Covid Safety

John led the effort to enact a COVID-19 vaccine requirement for City College students and employees in order to keep everyone safe. He co-authored the vaccine policy and passed it at the Board of Trustees. Continue Reading...

Stabilized Finances

During the Pandemic, when California Community Colleges lost 20% of their students and City College lost vital tax revenue, John delivered solutions. The Board stabilized finances and ended structure deficits. It satisfied all financial requirements of accreditation, the state, and our auditors. Environment

Climate Change, Environment

I have used my experience as a Sierra Club climate activist to create climate policy for City College, with new buildings powered by geothermal energy, electric car charging, and free transit passes for students. John successfully worked to provide new affordable housing for teachers and is working on building student housing. As Facilities Chair, John also worked to move quickly on the 2020 bond measure, with three new buildings going up soon. Continue Reading…

Accreditation

As the accreditation cycle begins again this year, the Trustees have placed City College in a good position for a smooth process. Additionally, the accrediting commission appointed John to a task force that is working to improve the process for all California Community Colleges. Continue Reading…
